The Guinness Premiership may only be three games old but it has already thrown up some interesting and surprising results.

Champions Wasps have had their worst start in recent memory and their last defeat to newly promoted Northampton consigned them to second bottom of the table without a win. Since the retirement of Lawrence Dallaglio London-based side seem to be lacking on-field leadership and when under the pressure chaos reigns supreme.

Perennial finalists Leicester have got off to a solid start with tree wins from three do far. The Tigers look to mean business this year as they look to go one better than last time around.

Sale are one of the most interesting if not entertaining teams to watch at the moment. They are winning games but they’re not scoring tries; the nine points to six win over Bristol proving their strong defence but lack of attack at present. The Manchester outfit has the best defensive record but the worse points for tally but currently sit second. The Sharks though do have the power and flair going forward to open up sides and you feel that it’s just a matter of time before that comes to the fore. If it does and they can keep up their consistency then they could be serious challengers this season.

Finally after a very shaky start pre-season favourites Gloucester are starting to play well and the Cherry and whites will be back in the hunt again.

The UK’s leading spread betting from are one of the most established and reliable on the world wide web and offer decent bets for anyone into their high risk wagers.

The very nature of spread betting means that if you win you stand to win big but if you lose then you can be in big trouble if you’re not careful.

That said if you stick to the golden rule of gambling that you only ever bet what you can afford to lose they this type of wager is very good fun. You can also take advantage of small idiosyncrasies at certain events. For example if it rains heavily at Sunderland dog track then ‘buy’ the trap numbers as dogs three to six are more likely to win as the water drains to the inside of the circuit.

When you log on for the first time to Sporting Index you are met with a professional, if not slightly bland home page. It is well set out and is of an unassuming style, which makes life very easy when navigating around.

The content is pretty standard with highlights pointing you towards the bigger events and the play for fun option is brilliant to learn the basics.

Placing your bet is easy too and with the option of betting on your blackberry you can always track your wager.

So with the conclusion of the Tri Nations involving the three power houses of World Rugby League and the major disappointment of Current World Champions South Africa who finished bottom whilst inflicting Australia’s biggest ever loss (53-8) in a match it was The New Zealand All Blacks who came out on top of the three and retaining their Tri nations cup playing some very entertaining Rugby along the way.

South Africa started the tournament with a new coach and a country wanting more silverware after taking the previous World Cup and by the end of the tournament the majority of the country was calling for the new coach De Villiers head after the team finished a dismal bottom.

Much the same feeling was coming out of Australia with coach Robbie Deans promising a new blend of Rugby which quite frankly wasn’t any way near good enough for the Rugby loving Aussies and after finishing in the tri nations table with a -44 score difference many people will be asking some serious questions down under I am feeling.

New Zealand All Blacks however proved just why they are the best side in the world today with a style of free flowing Rugby that is the envy of all the coaches around the globe I’m sure, their ability to grab victory from the jaws of defeat is something that has really impressed me and I am convinced they will follow up this Tri nations trophy with the World Cup the next time it comes around due to great talent coming through from the All Black youngsters.

The defending champions have a huge gap to fill in their squad after the retirement of skipper Lawrence Dallaglio. Coach Shaun Edwards though hasn’t rested on his laurels and was quick to bring the experienced French flanker Serge Betsen to help bulk up the pack. The London based club will be boosted by the news that fly-half Danny Cipriani could be back as early as November after serious injury. The champions are one of the few top clubs in the Premiership who can cope with their starts departing for international duty and should be challenging for honours come the business end of the season.

Leicester are next in the betting and go into the new season without last season’s top points scorer Andy Goode who has joined French club Brive. The Tigers have responded with the excellent signing of England international Toby Flood to fill vacant No.10 shirt. However when the international season starts Flood will be missing a lot of games for his new club and it will be interesting to see how they cope.

The Cherry and whites of Gloucester have probably been the best team over the last two seasons but for some reason can’t quite do it in the playoffs. To prevent this happening again the club have bought in Olly Barkley and New Zealand prop Greg Somerville; two excellent signings that could make all the difference.
