After a hard fought Tri Nations and a tough Currie Cup the Southern Hemisphere giants are in Europe for the autumn internationals.
New Zealand, Australia and World Champions South Africa have made their annual pilgrimage to colder climes to take on ‘the Six Nations.’
Already the Southern trio has proved too strong for their European counterparts with all three of them recording victories.
Most impressive do far have been the All Blacks who demolished Scotland 32-six limiting the proud Scots to just two penalties. They say class will out and that’s exactly what happened in the game with the Kiwis fielding a largely second string side dismissed the challenge of their rivals with tries from Anthony Tuitavake, Piri Weepu, Richard Kahui and Anthony Boric. If they can do that with a second string side then just think what the full strength team can achieve for the Tri Nations champions.
World Champions South Africa found Six Nations champs Wales a little tougher to crack. Under coach Warren Gatland the Dragons have found a renewed steel and organisation in defence, which nearly had the Springbok beaten. In the end though the South Africans managed to hold their nerve and with a good kicking display they dispatched the Welsh 20-15.
Australia looked a little shaky at half time against Italy. The scores were level at 14 all when the sides took the half time break. The Italians, in fact, came really close to recording there most famous victories but the Aussies had an ace up their sleeve in the form of fly-half Quade Cooper, who came off the bench to score with seven minutes left and break Roman hearts. Australia would eventually took the tie 30-20.
