After a hard fought Tri Nations and a tough Currie Cup the Southern Hemisphere giants are in Europe for the autumn internationals.

New Zealand, Australia and World Champions South Africa have made their annual pilgrimage to colder climes to take on ‘the Six Nations.’

Already the Southern trio has proved too strong for their European counterparts with all three of them recording victories.

Most impressive do far have been the All Blacks who demolished Scotland 32-six limiting the proud Scots to just two penalties. They say class will out and that’s exactly what happened in the game with the Kiwis fielding a largely second string side dismissed the challenge of their rivals with tries from Anthony Tuitavake, Piri Weepu, Richard Kahui and Anthony Boric. If they can do that with a second string side then just think what the full strength team can achieve for the Tri Nations champions.

World Champions South Africa found Six Nations champs Wales a little tougher to crack. Under coach Warren Gatland the Dragons have found a renewed steel and organisation in defence, which nearly had the Springbok beaten. In the end though the South Africans managed to hold their nerve and with a good kicking display they dispatched the Welsh 20-15.

Australia looked a little shaky at half time against Italy. The scores were level at 14 all when the sides took the half time break. The Italians, in fact, came really close to recording there most famous victories but the Aussies had an ace up their sleeve in the form of fly-half Quade Cooper, who came off the bench to score with seven minutes left and break Roman hearts. Australia would eventually took the tie 30-20.

Different from your normal fixed odds punting wagering on the spreads can give you a larger return for your cash. On the flip side though it can also lead to you losing much more than you staked in the first place.

If you are a serious punter then Spread betting can be an effective way of making cash. In it’s essence Spreads are predictions made by the firm, in this case Sporting Index and you bet on weather that prediction is too high or too low. For example they may think that Manchester United will score three goals in a game and you then wager on whether that is too low or too high. You win by getting a point for every goal higher or lower, depending on what you backed and each point is turned into you original stake. By the same token you lose a point if you’re wrong which is why loses on the spreads can be big.

Although what this system of betting offers is a chance to get out at any time. If your winning a certain bet but you think the tide will turn you can take your money and run and on the flip side you can cut you losses early.

One of the brilliant innovations at www.sportingindex.com is that you can play for fun. That allows you to learn the ropes and pitfalls before you commit financially and with plenty of incentives on offer to get involved it’s a good way to start off in the world of spread betting.

Kevin Bishop’s 10-year-old bounced back from an awful 2007-2008 season where he finished only one race from four starts. Taking over the lead at the sixth fence, he never looked back under Richard Johnson and powered away from Mahogany Blaze for a seven-length success with 9/4 favourite Twist Magic was a very disappointing fourth.

The layers were soon running for cover in various ante-post markets, with some chopping him to 12/1 from 33s for the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham’s Open meeting later in November. Other firms also trimmed the runner-up, who also look very good to 16/1 for the same race.

In Cheltenham Festival betting Ashley Brook has been, generally, introduced at around 33/1 for the Queen Mother Champion Chase and while Paul Nicholls’ Twist Magic was lengthened to about 20/1.

Not impressing the oddsmakers so much was Afsoun after he made his chasing debut at Warwick.

Placed in the 2007 Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham, Nicky Henderson’s star showed his class under Barry Geraghty to cut down Oh Crick in the final stride to almost justify odds of 4/11 having looked well beaten at the final fence.

That said he had not jumped well at all throughout the two-mile contest; a mixed bag was a general verdict on that element of the performance.

As a result 25/1 is the price about him to land next March’s Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival. Stan

This is a big advert that was found in a local newspaper promoting the fact that the long running football pools have been re-launched.

The advert is in the style of a news story but grabs your attention straight away by asking "Could you net £100,000 this weekend". This is clearly going to appeal to a football fan, betting on a sport with the potential of winning a fortune.

A familiar face is never a bad thing for an advertising campaign, especially someone who is respected for their approach and history associated, a prime example of this is in this advert with a picture of the legendary footballer John Barnes.

Another thing that will give the customer the belief that this is a well established gambling site is that you can pay at "paypoint" which is a nationwide method of payment and can be found in a huge majority of shops. To top it off they have shown a very easy to understand example of a pools slip and what you need to do and would automatically get the customer interested in taking part.
