Rugby Union is one of the biggest sports worldwide and the Super 14 is the biggest Rugby Union championship in the Southern Hemisphere. There are three nations in the Southern Hemisphere that supply the different teams for the super 14’s, those are Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Australia have 4 teams where as South Africa and New Zealand have 5 teams each.

The teams involved in the Super 14’s are the (Free State/Cheetahs, Western Cape/Stormers, Kwazulu Natal/Sharks, Gauteng/Lions, Northern Gauteng/Bulls) representing South Africa. From Australia there is (Queensland/Reds, New South Wales/Waratahs, Southern NSW & ACT/Brumbies, and Western Australia/Force) and then from New Zealand are the (Auckland/Blues, Waikato/Chiefs, Wellington/Hurricanes, Canterbury/Crusaders, and Otago/Highlanders).

Teams collate points throughout the whole championship and then the team who finishes with the most points are then crowned the Super 14’s champions, points are rewarded for both winning and drawing, 4 points for a win and then 2 points for a draw……….point scoring does not stop there though as teams can also earn bonus points, if a team scored 4 or more tried in a match they are rewarded with an extra bonus point and also if you lose by 7 or fewer points you also get rewarded with a point.

Three Super 14 Rugby teams from New Zealand lead the all time winners table with the Crusaders being the most successful with 7 wins and being runner up twice, The brumbies are the most unlucky being runners-up on three occasions although they have also won it twice. In the national standings, New Zealand have won ten and been runners up 6 times, Australia have won 2 and been runners up 5 times and finally South Africa have won twice and been runners up three times.

Rugby betting is just the same as betting on any other sport that you like to bet, you decide what site you want to place the bet on, log on to that site and select sports, then you should see a list of all the different sports and you would then click Rugby, browse through what different odds there are, maybe check any specials that are available, and the once you have decided exactly what you want, simply select it, choose your stake and click submit.

There are many different ways to bet on rugby just like there are with other sports and it all depends on what it is you want to bet on? For an example William Hill are already taking odds on the next six nations competition despite being 7 months away but with odds for rugby of 5/2 on France and Wales and 11/4 on the English winning, maybe it is worth betting early before the odds change closer to the time.

The Heineken Cup is also a major event in the Rugby Union world and there are a couple of different things to bet on, you can either bet on who you think the outright winner will be or you can give yourself a bigger chance of winning by simply selecting what you think the nationality of the winning team will be, the difference in odds is noticeable though as you can get odds ranging from 4/1 to 250/1 on the outright winner but on the nationality the odds range from 13/8 to 150/1.

Tri-nations Rugby is a Rugby Union competition with a history as interesting as any other sport you could think of. The Tri-nations is an annual competition that is contested by three of the biggest Rugby playing countries in the Southern Hemisphere, the countries in question are of course South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

Each of the above countries have their own governing body for the sport, Australian Rugby Union, the New Zealand Rugby Football Union and the South African Rugby Union, they all joined into one consortium and launched SANZAR letters taken from each country). The tournament was first launched 13 years ago in 1996 and the format of the tri-nations consists of each team playing each other twice on a home and away basis. There have been two occasions in 2006 and in 2008 where the teams actually played each other 3 times.

New Zealand are clearly seen as Tri-Nations legends and as they boast an impressive record of winning 9 out of the 13 years you can certainly see why, and they have only lost 17 games in the tri-nations over the 13 tournaments. Australia and South Africa are in joint second place with two tournament victories each. There have been many rumours in recent years that Argentina are going to be involved and brought into the tri-nations, although this has never been confirmed to be true by any of the nations organisations. It is no surprise that New Zealand are the current Tri-nations reigning champions going into the 2009 competition later this year.

Sportingindex.com are one of the more popular sites when it comes to online betting. I think personally it is because sportingindex is one of the better sites at updating results as and when they are happening and that is always a plus point in my eyes.

Ok so last week saw the launch of this years most infamous summer tournament, Wimbledon. Wimbledon is absolutely incredible and draws millions of people every year to watch, some people only watch tennis for 2 weeks in a year and this is the time when they do so.

This year sees Andy Murray second favourite to win the tournament and 90% of the people currently hooked to their TV watching the sport will have never seen someone from Great Britain win at Wimbledon, considering Fred Perry before World War 2 was the last person to do so.

So let’s have a look at what sportingindex.com are offering us on the tennis front this summer. Instead of looking to see what odds the individual players have been given I think I would like to see what Wimbledon specials are being offered. There are 5 separate markets in the special for the men’s tournament and they are Total Sets Won to Love, Total Straight Sets Victories, Total Tiebreaks, Total Tiebreaks Points and finally 5 alives. There are also markets available under the names of ‘Wimbledon Tourament Specials’ and ‘Name the Finalists’, to find a bit more about these and to see what is being offered on them, take a look on sportingindex.com now.
